Apple Cider Vinegar Secrets

Ok, it’s not really a secret, but some of you don’t know. Apple Cider Vinegar has so many benefits, and since I first started using it several years ago I was SHOCKED when it cured my sinus infection!! 🙌🏻

I drank 2 tablespoons of vinegar in 8 oz of water two times a day. By the 3rd dose, everything started draining and my face began to feel better as the pressure subsided. I was sold! I didn’t have to go to the Doctor or use antibiotics.

Immediately I started searching the internet to learn about the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar. I wanted to know everything, and I wanted to try it all. I started buying the Organic Vinegar in the glass bottle.

The reason you want to use the organic non-filtered (with Mother) Vinegar is, strands of proteins, enzymes, and friendly bacteria. Some people believe the Mother has most of the health benefits. Although there is no studies to prove this.

Now after some research I found that Apple Cider Vinegar can lower blood pressure. My husband who is in great shape, has been taking medication for high blood pressure for 16 years. It runs in his family, and all of his immediate family takes meds for this. He drinks this religiously now, and though it did seem to help, he is still cautious and has stayed on his meds. I also have a longtime client whose husband was ordered to go on these meds by his doctor. He asked for 6 months to try it all natural, and Apple Cider Vinegar did it for him, he’s never had to take the medication. Woohoo!

So who hates Tums?! 🙋🏼‍♀️I do! No thank you. Almost always I can control any sort of stomach acid or indigestion with vinegar. On our recent trip to Nashville, we ordered groceries and picked them up with Uber. Apple Cider Vinegar was on my list! It works people. I know that a massive amount of Tums can give you kidney stones, and that sounds like a nightmare. Vinegar helps with your digestive track, and you will not have any problems of kidney stones from it whatsoever.

To reduce gas, dilute a tablespoon of vinegar in water. You may add honey to this as well to make it taste better. It can help with constipation, as it stimulates digestive juices that breaks down food in your stomach. I have used it for this and it really does work.sometimes as you get older you start having more problems like this and it’s so nice to use something natural and good for you instead of harsh laxatives.

Now I KNOW this stuff kills bacteria, why would it NOT kill cancer?! I’ve read several articles about this, and it made me so excited. Something natural that we can use every day that help kill cancer cells? In test tube studies, Vinegar has been shown to kill 12, 13, 14, 15.

Kitchen clean has only been vinegar for 4 years. It kills salmonella and other bacteria. Why would I not pick this over BLEACH?! Bleach ruins your clothes and kitchen towels, let alone it’s a harsh chemical. It’s also so CHEAP! I use 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Grab one of those empty spray bottle at Home Depot or Walmart and label it “Vinegar Water” and you’ve got homemade all natural cleaner.

You’re covered. Take it, try it, you’ll be happy. If there’s bacteria there this should be some help! When my Son and Daughter had strep throat this year, I MADE THEM drink this. You know how that went. 😳 This is the part where I feel like I’m showing our kids alternate ways to heal your body and ONLY use medication/antibiotics when we absolutely have to. Your body will thank you.

Happy Fourth of July

Love that we celebrate our Country’s freedom today. Hate that my dog is a miserable anxious mess! Just gotta get through it the best way we can.

My daughter, Avery is doing her best to keep our Golden Retriever Hank as busy as possible so that maybe, he is a little less anxious today. Hank is such a good boy, and THE best dog I’ve ever had in my life! We all want Hank to be happy, plus it gives US anxiety to have him so upset.

How do we survive this holiday?

Avery, YouTube Pro, like most kids, researched what to do for your dog in distress. She screenshot what she wanted me to pick up today at Tractor Supply, and what do you know they had it! Hanks is a big boy, all 110 pounds of him so he takes the highest dose of 6 medicine treats every 12 hours. Also, Alexa is playing some very nice relaxing music all shut up in his oasis, AKA Mom and Dads bedroom. It pretty much sounds as if a Spa Day is happening in there! The happy pills are setting in now and seem to be working well! Thanks to Quiet Moments-calming aid. It seems to be all natural, which is also a huge plus.

Tonight we are leaving the dog at home and going to a fourth of July party nearby that’s a huge event. We have never been before, but we hear there will be hundreds of people and the fireworks are quite impressive. I’m bringing several desserts, so I’m going to share with you one of my favorite pie recipes!

Best Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Five years ago I had only had Rhubarb once, and I felt it was just, okay. One of my long time clients gave me a rhubarb plant, and I’ve been making strawberry rhubarb pie with crumb topping. I found this recipe on Pinterest and I’ve made it over and over and it always has rave reviews.

Going to a Get Together?

This pie would be GREAT to bring to a get together today. I’m the last 24 hours I’ve made 6 pies and pulled 6 from the freezer. 6 were strawberry rhubarb and 6 were wild mountain blackberry. My husband and Son work hard for those berries! Of course they love being out in the woods enjoying nature and quiet so they are right in their element.

Great Fundraiser-Homemade Pies

The kids are still fundraising for their Swine camp and a holiday is always a great time to sell homemade pies. We sell the blackberry for $30 and SR for $25, which makes for a great fundraiser. The Swine Camp is top notch and pretty intense, but they learn A TON! I attribute this camp to my Son learning super fast how to be a good showman and win Reserve Champion at State Fair last year. If you are interested click here!

So if you want to make an AMAZING pie, this is the Folks. I don’t always use this crust recipe, but it’s great as well. The crumb topping is to die for and it’s basically what makes this pie so stinking good.

I pulled the rhubarb right out of my garden but you can find it this time of year at your local farmers market and some grocery stores. Here’s the link to this recipe I found several years ago!

Let’s make it perfect!

TIP-cover your pie with foil and remove the last 10-15 minutes of baking. Also you can place a sheet of foil under your pie in the oven for any drippage that will cause a smoky mess and also make your pie smell burnt, even if it isn’t. ENJOY!!

Again have a safe HOLIDAY!

Easy Freezer Burritos

I’ve never done massive quantities of food prep like you see on some Blogs or Amazing Pinterest posts. I really have always thought that would be truly great to have all that food just stored away, so that every day life would be SO SIMPLE! You arrive home after work and in the middle of homework, and getting to practices/games, you simply pop one those nicely stored away freezer meals and in 30 minutes you serve your family a homemade delicious dinner. Literally there are minimal dishes after your family meal, and no fighting about who’s on dish duty.

One thing I have realized is, it is a TON OF WORK taking up several free days. Plus, you also have to have ample freezer space available! My family is notorious for getting tired of things if they have them too much. Too much of a good thing can end up freezer burnt and just wasted. All that time and money just…down the drain.

Spring baseball always has our family really busy, so it’s very convenient when I get a couple hours on a weekend to make up some easy freezer food for my family. They really LOVE these burritos I have made in advance, and stored in the freezer. My girlfriend brought these by when I had foot surgery in January, and it was a GOD SEND! My husband doesn’t cook so there wasn’t a lot meals happening during the first week or two of my recovery. Cooking on crutches is not a fun task. Grocery shopping wasn’t happening at that time either, no surprise at all to me 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

This is what has worked for my family! I just do a few freezer food meals at a time, here and there.

TIP-when you make soup, stew, spaghetti sauce, WHATEVER…make double or triple the amount. (Not time consuming at all. You’ve made your dinner AND you didn’t need to block out a weekend out of your life for MEAL PREP. It just sounds miserable to me, and I have so many other things I want to do with my time, because it just takes more time away from my family.

KUDOS to all of you Moms who food prep for a month of meals, I’m a teensy bit jealous.

Freezer Burritos

2 lbs taco meat

Tortilla shells

Refried beans

Mexican rice-a-roni

Shredded Mexi cheese

Cooking oil-your choice

Wrap all your burritos. Heat A teaspoon at a time of oil in a frying pan on medium, and brown each side. My kids only like just taco meat and cheese. I do 2 separate freezer bags and label, EVERYTHING and MEAT AND CHEESE.

Get Creative & Build it!!

On a whim, my kids come up with a crazy idea to build something!

I’m confessing, I don’t want to deal with it. SO MUCH work for me, TOO expensive, TOO much time that I don’t have, are ALWAYS my reasons.

It’s really hard to stop in the middle of what we are doing, and spend time to make something creative with our kids. I’ll TALK ABOUT MY KIDS COOKING, AND MESSING UP MY KITCHEN ANOTHER DAY!

Why is it hard to stop and give our kids our full attention?

Grandma Betty’s Legacy

My daughter and the best Great Grandma you could have.

So I have to share with you the first of my Favorite Things Corner. One of my all time favorite human beings is my Grandma. Like seriously you guys, I had the BEST Grandma.

One of the things my Grandma did to show us she loved us was cooking. Almost everything she made was tasty.

You know like when someone else makes you a Sandwich…it tastes WAY better than if you had made it with the same ingredients?! Buttermilk white bread with soft butter and slices of velveeta cheese on it, was like…the most amazing sandwich Grandma always made For me at her house. Definitely made with love, and the reason it tasted so great.

So now I’ll pass along a recipe we all make that was my Grandma Betty’s famous dinner.

Homemade Chicken and Noodle Soup

Not the most amazing picture! But…the most amazing soup 🍲

Boil 1 skinless chicken in pot covered in water, for 45 minutes. Remove chicken and strain broth. Add chicken bouillon for more flavor.

*Egg Noodles*

While chicken is boiling, make noodles.

In bowl combine 1 1/3 cups of Flour

2 eggs

2 eggs full of water

1/2 tsp salt

Mix tother. If dough is too sticky, add flour until it can be rolled out onto a floured surface. Cut into dough, long noodles 1/4”-1/2” wide.

Slowly add noodles to the boiling chicken broth. You may also add carrots or other vegetables you wish. Add 1 tablespoon of parsley leaves. Turn down and continue boiling for 15 minutes. Season with salt, thicken with a mixture of cornstarch and water. Add shredded chicken and serve!

Your Welcome. 🙌🏻

My favorite person

This recipe continues to be our favorite. I’m hoping my kids take it into their homes someday, and continue the tradition.♥️

So that her recipes and the memories of my Grandma stick around, I thought it would be perfect to have a cookbook of all of her stuff. My Mom suggested we add my Great Aunt Lucille’s recipes as well.

I think that food brings us together, and I hope that the recipes from my Grandma and my Aunt, will stir up good memories in us all.

I’ve been making my cookbook on Blurb. Check it out! ⬇️
